As Canada’s leading cancer centre, The Princess Margaret provides life-saving care to patients from across the country. For out-of-town patients, The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre Lodge offers a “home away from home”, providing comfortable, affordable accommodations during their treatment. The newly transformed Lodge reopened in April after four years of renovations. Originally built in 1957, the Lodge has more space for patients with 120 beds, and improved amenities, including Wi-Fi throughout, and ensuite bathrooms.

“In a city as expensive as Toronto, affordable lodging for cancer patients is crucial. Thanks to our donors, the daily cost to stay at Princess Margaret Lodge is a fraction of an average night’s hotel stay,” says Miyo Yamashita, President and CEO of The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.

For just $30 a night, guests receive three meals a day and a shuttle service to the Cancer Centre for appointments and other services. “The Lodge eases the financial burden of accommodations, providing out-of-town cancer patients with comfortable lodging during their care. With an average stay of 6 to 8 weeks, this is critically important,” she said.

The Lodge offers more than just accommodation; it fosters a sense of connection, healing, and community among patients. Many residents come to the Lodge alone, but they find support and companionship with others going through similar experiences.

The transformation of The Princess Margaret Lodge would not have been possible without the support of our donor community. Donors like you help enhance and elevate care for cancer patients.
