“As a monthly donor, I’m reminded every month that I’m still alive because of The Princess Margaret.” – Robert Kerrigan, who has been a monthly donor since 2008

Robert Kerrigan is a retired civil engineer who had a wonderful career working on projects in Canada and around the world. He lives in west Toronto and has two adult children who live close by. His daughter, Andrea, is a marketing manager for a consulting engineering firm and his son, Mike, is a nurse.

Robert has been a monthly donor since 2008, shortly after he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. At the time, his daily treatments at The Princess Margaret were quite new, using a precisely focused beam of radiation.

“I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for The Princess Margaret. That’s a fact,” says Robert, “And I’ve been a donor ever since.”

Monthly giving works well for Robert. He says he can make regular donations month by month rather than trying to find the money to donate at the end of the year.

He appreciates that The Princess Margaret is one of top 5 cancer research centres in the world, where new cancer treatments are being developed.

“As a monthly donor, I’m reminded every month that I’m still alive because of The Princess Margaret,” he says, “And I might be helping to save someone else’s life through the research that I am supporting.”
