Geoff supported The Princess Margaret for years. Then he was diagnosed with cancer.

It started with a routine checkup. A simple PSA test flagged trouble, and within days Geoff was at The Princess Margaret, undergoing further tests. When the specialists confirmed it was prostate cancer, he felt a mix of fear and relief—relief he finally had answers, and a clear path forward. He felt grounded and confident in his team at The Princess Margaret, because he knew he was in the best hands.

After his wife survived a breast cancer diagnosis in 2002, The Princess Margaret became a constant in his family, both through Paula’s treatment, and the fact that The Princess Margaret had just contracted Geoff’s company to promote a fundraiser. Thankfully, his wife’s treatment was successful. Her cancer journey ended, but Paula and Geoff never walked away from The Princess Margaret.

For the next 20 years, they made it their mission to become ambassadors for The Princess Margaret. They walked, rode, fundraised, and rallied support for the life-saving research, innovation, and exceptional care that the Cancer Centre is known for.

Geoff was no stranger to cancer, but nothing could have prepared him for his own diagnosis. The surgery wasn’t easy. He underwent a robotic radical prostatectomy, made possible through donor-funded technology, but he felt prepared. He hadn’t let cancer stop him from doing the things he loved, and he had built a deep, trusting relationship with his surgeon and oncologist, Dr. Rob Hamilton. Just like his wife 20 years earlier, Geoff knew he was in the best hands.

“My surgery was a success and today I recovered with no lasting effects. I feel great and I am doing many of the things I was doing before this all happened. My outcome is a positive one because my cancer was caught early, and I am truly grateful for that.”
