Our Host: Lisa LaFlamme

Veteran journalist Lisa LaFlamme has tackled some of the biggest issues of our time from war zones and natural disasters to the changing political climate around the world. An Officer of the Order of Canada and Order of Ontario, she is the recipient of 14 Canadian Screen Awards, including the Gordon Sinclair Award for Excellence in Broadcast Journalism and RTDNA Lifetime Achievement Award. She has received 7 Honorary Doctorates and is a longtime ambassador for Journalists For Human Rights.

Episode 2 - Your Best Friend’s Cancer: Rachel McAdams, her best friend Tennille & the crucial role of caregivers

Tennille and Rachel are childhood best friends who lost touch and then were reunited by chance after years apart. They have remained close ever since, until a cancer diagnosis changed their lives forever. Rachel stepped in to provide support, quickly realizing that when someone you love goes through cancer, you go through it too.
 

 


Episode 3 - Cancer in Your Prime: Atoosa Rashid, colon cancer at 26 & how it helped her find herself

Cancer diagnoses in adults under 40 are rising sharply and they need a different kind of support than those who are diagnosed later in life. Meet Atoosa Rashid, a 26-year-old woman who was making plans for her future when she received unwelcome news that forever altered the trajectory of her life. Thanks to the Adolescent & Young Adult Oncology Program at The Princess Margaret, Atoosa was able to receive the support she needed and is now a passionate advocate for other young adults facing cancer.
 

 


Episode 4 - Stopping Cancer Treatment: Alicia Mathlin, palliative care & the decision that was right for her

Meet Alicia Mathlin: a vibrant woman who had always been the picture of health until tragic news brought her face-to-face with her own mortality. Confronted with an impossible choice, Alicia’s story powerfully highlights how cancer treatment can go beyond the physical and challenge us to think differently about palliative care.
