Meet Tania
My name is Tania, and I’m a multidisciplinary artist who explores the concept of emotional paradox, how two opposing feelings can coexist. That same idea reflects my experience with cancer and my connection to The Princess Margaret.
I’ve spent time there supporting loved ones through treatment, and when I look back, I think of the word bittersweet. No one wants to be a patient, but there’s comfort in knowing you’re in the best hands possible.
My grandparents, Nonno Domenico and Nonna Maria, were both treated at The Princess Margaret. My grandfather’s cancer was discovered too late, but he gave everything he had with strength and dignity. My grandmother’s cancer was found early, thanks to advances in research, and she lived many more years with grace and courage.
For the 25th Anniversary of the Doves of Hope, I created a painting inspired by that duality, heartbreak and hope existing together. The piece reflects how art can hold both pain and beauty, just like the cancer journey itself.
Every Dove tells a story, and mine is about finding meaning in the moments between loss and love, fear and courage. When you dedicate a Dove, you’re helping fund early detection and life-saving research, bringing us closer to a world free from the fear of cancer.
