Meet Alexandra
My name is Alexandra. I’m a stage 4 Hodgkin’s lymphoma survivor, full-time artist, and proud supporter of The Princess Margaret. At 29, I received my diagnosis, a moment that changed everything. My first PET scan was at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, where I began my journey surrounded by expert care and compassion.
During treatment, I discovered how powerful art could be in my healing. Bright, playful colours became my medicine, they were my energy, my joy, and my hope. That discovery inspired me to leave teaching and pursue art full-time, using every brushstroke to tell a story of strength and perseverance.
For the 25th Anniversary of the Doves of Hope campaign, I created a Georgian Bay–inspired piece featuring a dove soaring through a vibrant sky, a symbol to me of love, courage, and renewal.
Every Dove tells a story, and mine is about finding light in the darkest times and creating a world free from the fear of cancer.
When you dedicate a Dove, you’re helping fund world-leading cancer research and sending hope to patients and their loved ones.Alexandra Gronfors
