Meet Vicki
My name is Vicki. I’m an artist, two-time breast cancer survivor, and proud supporter of The Princess Margaret.I lost my incredible mom to breast cancer when I was just 14. Growing up without her was unimaginable — and years later, in 2014, my worst fear came true: my own breast cancer diagnosis. It felt like a punch to the gut, but I turned that fear into courage, into healing, into family, and into my art. Painting became my way to process, to heal, and to give back.
Then, in 2022, it happened again, another diagnosis. Learning I carried the PALB2 genetic mutation was hard, but I was determined this wasn’t the end of my story. Through surgery, chemo, and hormone therapy, I stayed focused by using my art to raise $69,000 for young women newly diagnosed with breast cancer.
When I finally heard the words “you are in remission,” I knew I had to keep sharing my story, to spread awareness, support others, and help fund life-saving research.
That’s why I’m so honoured to be part of The Princess Margaret’s 25th Anniversary Doves of Hope campaign. Along with other artists, I created a unique artwork that symbolizes resilience and the power of hope. This isn’t just about creating art; it’s about sharing a piece of my story — one that’s been shaped by cancer.
My art truly is my lifeline. It’s my way of giving back, of spreading joy, of leaving a legacy. My hope is that through my art, I can make a difference — making the world a brighter, happier place. Because together, with world-leading facilities like The Princess Margaret and the Doves of Hope campaign, anything is possible. Let Hope Fly, and together we will Carry The Fire for a world free from the fear of cancer.
