Meet Tennille

My name is Tennille. I’m a mother, an oil painter, and a cancer survivor. In 2020, I was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer. My son was just four years old, and I feared he might grow up without remembering me.

The months that followed were filled with endless scans, 12 rounds of chemotherapy, and moments of deep uncertainty. But I was never alone — my care team at The Princess Margaret carried me through with compassion and expertise. I’ll never forget the day I was told my tumour had responded so well to treatment that surgery wasn’t needed. That news gave me hope I’ll carry forever.

Through it all, art became my lifeline. Painting gave me strength when I was exhausted, a way to express emotions I couldn’t put into words.

That’s why being part of the 25th Anniversary of Doves of Hope means so much to me. Knowing my artwork is being used to help raise funds for groundbreaking cancer research and inspire hope is an incredible feeling.

When you dedicate a Dove, you help fill Princess Margaret Cancer Centre with these powerful symbols of hope, reminding every cancer patient they are not alone.
