At The Princess Margaret, our renowned doctors, researchers, and scientists are making breakthrough discoveries. These discoveries are saving lives and transforming patient outcomes around the world, meaning every cancer survivor is Giving Proof that giving to cancer research works. With your help, we can create a world free from the fear of cancer.
Meet Munira Premji, Multiple Myeloma and Lymphoma Survivor
12 years ago, Munira faced the unthinkable: not one, but two aggressive, life-threatening cancer diagnoses – multiple myeloma and lymphoma. Today, after 12 years of holidays she wasn’t supposed to see, she’s Giving Proof that your generosity gives cancer patients the greatest gift of all – time.
Meet Nirupa Muthurajah, Breast Cancer Survivor
It was a Saturday afternoon like any other and Nirupa was playing with her 5 year old daughter. When her toy fell under the couch, Nirupa reached down to grab it, and her arm brushed up what felt like a golf ball in her breast. “My stomach instantly sank,” she recalls.Three weeks later she received her breast cancer diagnosis and began 9 months of aggressive treatment, including surgery and chemotherapy. This was during the Covid lockdowns, so her family couldn’t come inside the Cancer Centre. “The incredible team of doctors, nurses, researchers at The Princess Margaret were an extension of my family – holding my hand during scans, comforting me when I needed it most – especially my nurse Celeste, who was an absolute rock for me.”
This giving season, please donate to The Princess Margaret so that more cancer patients like Nirupa can benefit from the Cancer Centre’s world-leading research and care.
