The Future of Cancer Breakthroughs is right here at The Princess Margaret. Our renowned doctors, researchers, and scientists are making breakthrough discoveries that save lives and transform patient outcomes around the world. Every donation accelerates the pace of innovation and helps give cancer patients more time with their loved ones.

The research we do today saves lives tomorrow. Help us get closer to Conquering Cancer In Our Lifetime.

At the age of 25, Luana Locke was diagnosed with breast cancer while she was pregnant with her first child. Her diagnosis triggered genetic testing that revealed she had a rare hereditary disorder that comes with an almost 100% chance of developing cancer again in her lifetime. Today, thanks to breakthroughs in early detection at The Princess Margaret, she has survived cancer six times. Luana is living proof that the research we do today saves lives tomorrow.

Here are some of the major breakthroughs that have been possible with your support:

  • We revolutionized the world’s understanding of cancer.

  • We pioneered immunotherapy, a less toxic alternative to chemotherapy.

  • We developed a blood test with the potential to change how cancer is detected.

  • We found new hope for leukemia patients.

  • We learned that cancer cells can hide.

  • We’re extending the lives of glioblastoma patients.

  • We’re leading the way in breast cancer prevention.

  • We’re improving the effectiveness of immunotherapy.

  • We’re using technology to transform patient care.

  • We are home to one of the world’s largest clinical trials programs.

  • Hodgkin Lymphoma used to be a death sentence. Then we discovered it was curable.

  • We save lives by finding new connections.

  • We find what can’t be seen.

  • Cancer is relentless. So is our pursuit of a cure.

  • We’re using A.I. to make real progress.

  • We can predict who will respond to immunotherapy.

  • We’ve helped people live longer – again and again and again.

  • We believed a pill could change breast cancer outcomes.

  • We use new tech to see cancer in a new light.

  • We have doubled some cancer survival rates.

  • World-firsts are in our blood.

  • We give more patients more hope.

  • The world sends their best to learn from us.

  • We are leading the world in caring for more than just the disease.

In 2017, Kara Thornhill was diagnosed with a rare form of bile duct cancer that had a five-year survival rate of less than 10%. Today, thanks to an experimental protocol at The Princess Margaret, she is living cancer-free with her family.

Every donation helps us find new ways to detect and treat cancer earlier. This holiday season, support The Future of Cancer Breakthroughs.
