JoesTeam_Thumbnail.jpgMeet Jeff Offman. He was diagnosed with a rare form of testicular cancer in the Fall of 2014. His doctors at North York General Hospital felt the best option he had, was to get treatment at The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. It’s a decision, he says, that saved his life.

Fast forward to June of 2016, Jeff gears up for his first Joe’s Team Triathlon in July. It’s a goal he set while receiving treatment at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
“I said to myself, if I ever get well, I’m going to do this thing (Joe’s Team Triathlon),” said Jeff.  “I put in the work when I beat this thing. I had to sit, I had to fight. I dealt with depression which is a common thing doing this. I was weaker than I had ever been in my life, by a country mile. But you get up and you fight. That’s what makes a success. Anybody that’s a gold medalist in sports, they’re not better or more skilled than anybody else.  They just work harder, they fight harder, they train harder. That’s why they’re the best. It’s not their skill level. You get out there, you take baby steps, you go, you do, you work at it on a consistent basis and you’ll get there. Look at all the people that have done it and succeeded. Starting with nothing you do all these little things and you’ll get there. You don’t have to finish, but once you get in there and do it, it’s a lot easier than what you think it is.”
Joe’s Team is one of Canada’s most successful grassroots fundraisers and it’s just a little over two weeks away. Amazing people, like Jeff, will come together on July 9th  to participate in this Triathalon/Duathlon to help conquer cancer in our lifetime.
And let’s be honest- who isn’t looking for an excuse to spend a weekend in Muskoka this summer.
