On Saturday, November 10, 2012, over 150 Shoppers Drug Mart® Weekend to End Women’s Cancers™ participants and donors gathered together at an annual impact event, to hear how their support is advancing Personalized Cancer Medicine at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. Attendees had the opportunity to engage with The Princess Margaret staff, researchers and scientists, to hear how their support of The Weekend over the years is making a real difference in women’s cancer research, clinical enhancements and survivorship programs.

Special guest speakers included Dr. Tak Mak, Director of The Campbell Family Institute for Breast Cancer Research, and Canada’s most cited scientist, Dr. Fei-Fei Liu, Head of Radiation Medicine and Ms. Jill Anzarut, a Walker and breast cancer survivor.

Dr. Dennis Slamon, Chief of Hematology-Oncology at UCLA and researcher who discovered Herceptin, also sent a recorded message. In it, he spoke about the powerful research that he and his team are doing in women’s cancers, as well as of the joint work that he and Dr. Tak Mak are conducting, building on findings that were initially funded by money raised through The Weekend.
