2009 Home Lottery Winners Announced!
Tammie Pinnock thought she had it all – good job, good friends, a nice place to live and a car that gets her where she needs to go. But as of the morning of Wednesday, May 27, 2009, Tammie now really DOES have it all!

Tammie is the grand prize winner in The Princess Margaret Home Lottery for Cancer Research. Her good fortune has now made her the owner of an extraordinary Greenpark showhome in Woodbridge. The 6,226 square foot mansion is fully furnished, professionally decorated and landscaped and is valued at $2,580,000. But in addition, Tammie will drive to and from her new home in an exciting new 2009 BMW 323i Sedan. And her winning is only just beginning – there $10,000 cash to ‘ease’ Tammie into her new lifestyle!

When ticket #283715 was drawn live on Breakfast Television Wednesday morning, the ticket turned out to have been purchased by the 29-year-old Toronto resident, ironically, a newswriter for CITY-TV, the station that hosts Breakfast Television. “I couldn’t believe it,” said Pinnock. “I STILL can’t believe it!”

The coincidence may puzzle some, but there is no need for concern. Under the rules of the lottery, only employees of The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation and those involved in the execution of the contest are ineligible to enter. “It is actually wonderfully fine,” said Christine Lasky, the Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation. “The draws are overseen by Miratel Solutions to ensure absolute fairness, and CITY-TV employees are eligible to win. We are thrilled for Tammie!” In the amazing random world of lotteries, it is even more coincidental that those working on the show know the grand prize winner, and all attest to what a worthy winner Tammie is. “She deserves this more than anyone,” commented a friend. “She is just a great, great person.”

Tammie, incredulous at her luck, shook her head in astonishment. “I have never been in such a big house in my life,” she laughed, gazing around at the spectacular home she now owns. “In fact, and I’m not kidding, my apartment could fit in the kitchen here!”

The ticket Tammie purchased almost didn’t get bought. She had considered investing in a ticket, put it off, but was motivated by an interview with PMHF President and CEO Paul Alofs that articulated how the economy is impacting the lottery, and in turn, would have ramifications on the breakthrough cancer research being conducted at The Princess Margaret, one of the top 5 cancer research centres in the world. “I missed the Early Bird deadline and then half an hour before the lottery cIosed, I thought, ‘I’ve got to get a ticket!’ I waited for the absolute last moment!”

So congratulations to Tammie Pinnock for a last-minute decision that has now changed the course of her life.

Robert Coates with Maureen Shaughnessy Kitts and Christine Laskey of PMHF
Robert Coates, on the other hand, has purchased tickets for The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation lotteries for many years, pleased to support a cause he deems so important. But while the purchase of tickets helps support cancer research, deep down, there is the hope that the ticket you hold just may be one of the grand prizes. Sure enough, Robert’s dream was realized when his ticket #023840 was drawn, making the Mississauga native the new owner of a 2,608 square foot Greenpark home in Markham. Valued at $705,000, the spectacular home is also fully furnished and decorated and also comes with a 2009 BMW 323i Sedan in the driveway and $5,000 cash for incidentals. The entire value of the Coates win – over $750,000!
