Christine Rae - Cancer Survivor
Christina Rae and husband
Christine Rae - a breast cancer survivor- accepted a friend’s invitation to join a team walking in The Weekend to End Breast Cancer on her first day of chemotherapy in February 2004. She finished chemo that April, and had her final radiation treatment three months later. “The WEBC event was a lot of fun and very emotional – a really great experience,” says Christine. She got a little help with sponsorship from a dog-walking friend who canvassed the neighbourhood and was able to raise $1,100 on Christine’s behalf. Her 18-year-old daughter joined the seven-member team and in the end their only concern was sore feet. “The best part was - my husband, Gary, got the two of us a day at the spa.”
Christine and Gary Rae – who purchased a last minute ticket in The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation’s Home Lottery 2005 – were presented with the keys to the $497,700 Glenwood 8 home in Aurora last spring.
PMH researchers discovered the T-cell receptor, described as the “holy grail” of immunology.
