Named Funds
Establishing a Named Fund
Using current or future gifts, you can establish a named fund at The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation in support of a specific cancer site or project within the Hospital. Established funds honour a donor, a family or a loved one, and may represent a personal story – of courage and spirit – about cancer. Named funds are living tributes to special people and families that fight cancer.

Restricted Funds
  Endowed Funds
  Chairs
  Fellowships

Together, these funds represent our vision To Conquer Cancer.
Restricted Funds
With a minimum commitment of $50,000, you can establish a restricted fund at Princess Margaret Hospital. Restricted funds can be designated to a specific area or project at the hospital such as patient care or research.

A named fund may also be unrestricted and is used by the Foundation for cancer research based on where the need is greatest.
Endowed Funds
One of the urgent priorities is to build our endowment in support of cancer research. The money is permanently invested and the principal is always kept intact. Each year, a portion of the income is used to support a research project or the work of a person, such as a scientist or new doctor. Building our endowment is essential because it will ensure Princess Margaret Hospital has the ongoing funding necessary to continue its leadership role in international cancer research.

Endowed funds can be established for $100,000 and may be named after the donor, a family member or loved one. Donors can establish and contribute to endowed funds using both current and future gifts. Together these funds – some large, some small – provide living tributes to special people that will grow in value and importance.

Chairs
A named Chair is a full-time prestigious position in support of a Princess Margaret Hospital senior scientist or physician. Chair holders are typically internationally renowned cancer specialists who are broadening our understanding of cancer and opening new pathways of discovery in cancer research. Chairs are normally named and are excellent recognition opportunities for major contributors or for physicians or researchers who have made a significant contribution to the development of Princess Margaret Hospital.

We have one of the finest cancer facilities in the world and need to ensure that we continue to attract, retain and recognize leading physicians and researchers. Chairs require a minimum endowment of $3 million.
Fellowships
These are named, permanent endowed positions in support of post-doctoral (Ph.D.) research fellows or clinical fellows engaged in research. Fellowships help us to attract the brightest scientists and doctors worldwide to our cancer research team.

Fellowships are important investments in people. A strong fellowship program is key to the research productivity and the reputation of Princess Margaret Hospital. Fellowships require a minimum endowment of $1 million.
