Gift in Your Will
Leave a gift in your Will - Bequests
A bequest – the most common type of future gift – is a commitment made through your Will to be distributed by your estate upon your death. A bequest may be a specific piece of property, sum of money, or a portion of your estate. Upon death, The Princess Margaret Foundation will issue a donation receipt for the bequest that may result in significant tax savings in the year of death and the preceding year. Most people make a bequest when their Wills are drawn. Here is a list of Sample Will Clauses for you or your lawyer to consider.
5 Great Reasons to let us know you have included us in your Will.
The JCB Grant Society
Membership in The JCB Grant Society pays tribute to each donor who has confirmed a legacy gift to The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation and is named after Dr. J. C. Boileau Grant (see below) who included a bequest in his will for Princess Margaret Hospital and left an important legacy for cancer research.
The names of The JCB Grant Society members are listed on our Legacy Giving Donor Wall on the main floor of Princess Margaret Hospital and published in our Annual Report to Our Donors. Our Donors can choose of course to be thanked privately instead. Members are also invited to an annual luncheon held each September where they have the opportunity to hear about the latest achievements and discoveries in our fight to conquer cancer.

J.C. Boileau – About Dr. J.C. Boileau Grant
The JCB Grant Society is named in honour of the distinguished University of Toronto Professor of Anatomy, Dr. J. C. Boileau Grant, the author of Grant’s Atlas of Anatomy. Grant’s Atlas is the standard anatomy textbook used to train thousands of medical students around the world.
Princess Margaret Hospital has a special connection with Dr. Grant. His widow, Anne Catriona Robertson, left us a bequest of the Atlas royalties when she died in 1982. With the annual royalty payments, The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation has created the J.C. Boileau Grant Chair in Oncologic Pathology, a $2.2 million endowed chair, as well as a major named endowed fund.
The Grant family is special to us. They have left a valuable legacy with a creative gift that has improved our ability to conduct leading-edge cancer research. Through the JCB Grant Society, we wish to pay tribute both to the Grant family and to each donor who has confirmed a planned gift to The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation.
