Staff participation in OneWalk to Conquer Cancer
is a big part of its success

This year, The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation welcomes a new title sponsor for OneWalk to Conquer Cancer. The Rexall OneWalk to Conquer Cancer takes place on September 10, and it will start and finish at Nathan Phillips Square in the heart of downtown Toronto. Last year, the event raised $7.5 million and involved more than 4,500 participants. The Foundation is already working hard with Rexall and our other sponsors to ensure the event is a great experience for our walkers and continues to raise the critical funds needed to implement clinical enhancements and conduct breakthrough cancer research at The Princess Margaret.

The Foundation is grateful for all the support received in the past from Princess Margaret and UHN staff who walk or volunteer at the event. Last year, there were 17 teams representing the cancer centre, and collectively they raised over half a million dollars! Teams included Mary’s Migraines, GI Joes, Team Nursing and Health Professions, and Breath of Fresh Air for Lung Cancer.

Walkers tell us regularly what a thrill it is meeting and walking alongside Princess Margaret staff. “Everyone knows that Princess Margaret staff are on the front line and are making a major difference in the lives of cancer patients every day,” says Karen Adams, Senior Director of OneWalk. “We also hear from staff that spending time with walkers who have worked so hard to raise funds for Princess Margaret Cancer Centre is inspiring to them as well.”

Princess Margaret/UHN staff, their friends and family can register for the 2016 event from now until April 30 for only $10 (regularly $50). Simply use the special code UHN2016 when registering.

If you would like to find out more about the event or how to form your own team, you can watch our 2016 orientation video or visit the OneWalk website, or reach out to Karen Adams (416-946-2373 or Karen.Adams@thepmcf.ca).
