Global Institute of Psychosocial, Palliative and End-of-Life Care

The Global Institute for Psychosocial, Palliative and End-of-Life Care (GIPPEC) is a partnership formed in 2014 between University Health Network and the University of Toronto, and the Director of GIPPEC is Dr. Gary Rodin, Head of Supportive Care at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. The past 2 years have been very productive for GIPPEC’s executive team as they have:

  • Built up the academic faculty to foster collaborative international research teams. Accomplished leaders in end-of-life care from Italy, Germany, Great Britain and China are already part of GIPPEC.
  • Organized a seminar series and a large conference that brought together thought leaders and investigators contributing to public policy regarding the care of patients with life-threatening or terminal diseases.
  • Launched an online educational platform that supports graduate training and enhances research skills.
