Meet The Cancer Experts: Dr. Hansen He

I'm Hansen He. I'm a scientist at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.

I have always had the passion to look for new things or explore unknown things, so research is the perfect area.

The cancer is very smart.

They use every part of our genome to survive or to progress.

But if we are only looking at that two percent of the protein coding genes that means that we're only understanding a very

little percentage of how the cancer evolves and or progresses.

Our research has been focusing on the rest of the genome, which is the non-coding part of the genome and we look at how the rest of the mutations are affecting the non-coding genes.

The collaborative environment, the different researchers, the different fields and then the resources in this institute are then facilitated by The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, and then that's greatly helped our basic research.
