Meet The Cancer Experts: Dr. Christopher Paige

Meet Dr. Christopher Paige. In his own words:

My name is Christopher Paige and I'm a researcher in the immunotherapy program at The Princess Margaret.

This is one of the most fascinating places on the planet to work. You're surrounded by really smart people and you're doing something every day that has the potential to help people.

We really understand the immune system so much better today than we did a decade ago. So now that we understand all of that, it gives us the capacity – the chance – to harness the power of the immune system and get it to do what it's naturally able to do – kill those leukemia cells, kill those cancer cells.

So what I'd like to see happen over the next five years is for this approach to immunotherapy that is looking so promising right now, to really be proven beyond any doubt at all that this is a frontline treatment, not just for 20 or 30 per cent of the patients that are responding, but all of the patients.

To see it, actually, in the clinic, leading in some cases to durable responses, treating patients that really had no other hope and now have a life to live – this is really a special time, I think, for anyone that works in immunotherapy.
