The Coppa family has made a commitment of $100,000 towards The D’Elia GU Robotic Surgery and Research Fund supporting Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.

A $40,370 cheque was presented Wednesday night at an event held at Coppa’s Fresh Market in King City, Ontario. The Coppa family surprised the crowd by making an additional gift of $60,000, bringing the grand total to $100,000.

The D’Elia Fund was created by a close friend of the Coppa family Paolo D’Elia, who is also a two-time cancer survivor. Paolo wanted to support the work at the Cancer Centre, specifically robotic surgery to treat patients with prostate, kidney, testicular or bladder cancer.

D’Elia has raised more than $65,000 for the fund through his own efforts. To read more about the D’Elia fund and how to donate visit his fundraising site

The Princess Margaret thanks both the D'Elia and Coppa families for their generosity.
