Annual Chinese Radiothon raises $124,500

04/11/2016
On November 3rd, the atrium at The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre was transformed into a live broadcast radio hub. Throughout the day listeners were able to hear from patients, doctors and donors, all eager to share their stories.

With A1 Chinese Radio live on the air, we marked the fourth annual Chinese Radiothon in support of Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.

A big thank you to everyone – patients, families, staff, and supporters – who all had the courage to share their stories. Our control room was buzzing all day with phones ringing and our amazing volunteers happily answering each call. Together, the Chinese community raised an outstanding total of $124,500!

Hearing the stories that fill the The Princess Margaret inspired people to donate. Listeners had the pleasure of hearing from grateful family members like Mr. Chaolun Yu, whose wife is a patient at The Princess Margaret. He expressed his gratitude to the dedicated staff of the cancer centre.

A special thank you to both Reeta Roy and Tour East Group for their generous matching donations.

Rosemary -- Tour East Holidays draw winner
And the winner is...Our lucky draw winner is walking away with 2 airline tickets to Asia, generously donated by Tour East Holidays! Congratulations to Rosemary and thank you for supporting our 2016 Chinese Radiothon!

For palliative care physician Dr. Ernie Mak, participating in the Radiothon was a natural extension of his compassion for patients. “I really enjoy coming to work every day because I know that I’m helping my patients live a better life and improve their quality of life,” said Dr. Mak. “Our focus is always on the patients and their families.”
