On May 30th, former and current members of the Butterfly of Hope team, friends and family, joined The Rexall OneWalk to Conquer Cancer to honour longtime Walker and fundraiser, Chad Cieslik, who passed away suddenly earlier this year.

As of 2017, Chad Cieslik, and The Butterfly of Hope team have raised more than $881K for The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, and is our 4th largest fundraising team in the history of the Walk, a huge accomplishment for volunteers and community members!

For that we thank Chad - a tireless team builder, a great mentor - inspiring and challenging others to rise to their potential - and a generous and compassionate man. We are truly grateful for the difference he has made for OneWalk and the Princess Margaret.  The funds he and the Butterfly of Hope raised are contributing to research in immunotherapy and new drug development, innovative surgical and technological advancements and clinical enhancements and world-class patient survivorship programs at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.  Chad was the role model of modern philanthropy that we need in today’s society.  He had tremendous “Heart and Sole,” was always there to give you a big warm hug, and was passionate about everything he did for charity.

To take a page from the Butterfly of Hope OneWalk website: “No one can fill his shoes, we will WALK ON as best as we can and as he would want us to, to continue the tradition of the team he created, loved and with which he worked tirelessly.” With 42 walkers registered and a fundraising goal of $71,000 for 2018, the team will do him proud.  His is a wonderful legacy that will live on through Team Captains Barb Myers and Aline Goulet.  Chad will be missed by us all at The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation and OneWalk to Conquer Cancer.
